The Benefits Of A Speech Course For Stuttering

Have you ever attended a speech course that is aimed at overcoming a stutter? Have you ever thought about attending one of these type of speech courses? Has speech therapy proven to be beneficial in helping you to cure your stutter? In this article I am going to be writing about the various stuttering treatments and about which people are likely to benefit from attending a speech course.

188 Stage Hero's Journey (Monomyth): Trivial Task

The Trivial Task. A common part of the 188 stage Hero's Journey (Monomyth).

188 Stage Hero's Journey (Monomyth): The Significance of the Sword

The Sword is a tangible. In Brokeback Mountain (2005), it is Ennis' and Jack's reunion. It is also an Expansion of Consciousness and, in Brokeback Mountain (2005), is represented by Alma seeing Ennis kiss Jack.

188 Stage Hero's Journey (Monomyth): Persuading Allies

The Meeting of the Shape Shifter, who often has a critical competency, is not easily persuaded to join the Hero on the Journey. In Bonnie and Clyde (1967), Clyde has t persuade Moss to come along.

188 Stage Hero's Journey (Monomyth): Where to Start - the FADE IN

Writers often don't know where to start. It's easy. It's called a Fade In and it's another word for context. Start with the context. In Straw Dogs (1971), we open with shots of a tiny village in England. In Brokeback Mountain (2005), the first scene sets the context - Ennis is a cowboy in cowboy country.

The Dale Carnegie Course

The first night Mr. Ray Rayburn introduced himself and impressed the thirty or so men and women enrolled in the class by memorizing all of our names and something about each and every one of us. Mary Foster, a poet, wrote a poem that included a line about each of the class members.

Why Freelance Writers Are Lacking When It Comes to Technology

I'm constantly amazed at the lack of technology know-how among freelance writers - and I wholeheartedly include myself in this category. So, why do freelance writers lag in this area? Following are my theories, and how to go about changing this:

Print Design and Layout - A Remarkable Achievement in News Magazine Design: The Economist

188 Stage Hero's Journey (Monomyth): Final Conflict: Battle

Post the Crossing of the Return Threshold and before the Master of Two Worlds and Selves, a hell of a lot happens that is rarely given mention. The Final Conflict (a metaphor for this stage) follows a distinct process. When the battle begins, the Shape Shifter, engaged in a period of dissonance, doesn't believe hero is capable of defeating his (or her) antagonisms. In Straw Dogs (1971), Tom et al continue to attack the house and try to break in. Amy doesn't believe David can keep them out.

188 Stage Hero's Journey (Monomyth): Fate of the Demon King

The demon king lives in a world of infinite treasure but is constantly pursued (and must avoid) the forces of good. He has gained his kingdom by committing the vilest of acts. The antihero realises that a kingdom such as this is the elixir. But in order to obtain it, he must follow the same path [of committing vile acts]. In Scarface (1983), Tony wants to take over Frank's dope empire.

188 Stage Hero's Journey (Monomyth): Cast Out

The antihero's fate is to be cast out of the world he has fought so hard to be a part of. One reason is that even the dark world has rules and the antihero, being an antihero, is destined to break them. In Scarface (1983), the restaurant throws him out because he doesn't behave himself. In Goodfellas (1990), Henry is cast out by Frank because he deals in drugs.

188 Stage Hero's Journey (Monomyth): Magical Spells

This is a metaphor for an expansion of consciousness or competencies that the hero will require on his longer journey. Often, it involves training. In The Matrix (1999), Neo learns martial arts through the simulator. In Spartacus (1983), Spartacus learns to battle as a gladiator. In Gladiator (2000), Maximus learns to be a gladiator.

188 Stage Hero's Journey (Monomyth): Backstory

A preliminary aspect of the road of trials is backstory. This is illustrated in a number of ways. In The Godfather (1972), Michael visists Corleone. In Romancing the Stone (1983), Jack tells Joan about his past and reasons for being in Colombia.

188 Stage Hero's Journey (Monomyth): Belly of the Whale (aspects of)

In the Belly of the Whale, the hero must do what he needs to do, learns what he needs to do, practices what he needs to do or similar. He engages in that act will serve him or send him to the Road of Trials, where his Old Self will dissolve away. He is preparing for the dissolution of the Ordinary Self. Then he makes the physical crossing where all routes back are cut off - there is no going back.
