Broadband - A New World Of Internet

If you're old enough to remember the early days of the Internet, you're old enough to appreciate just what a broadband connection has brought to us. For those who are a little spoiled, we'll give you an idea of what is used to be like.

Broadband - Is It For You?

The speed increase of broadband versus dial-up or DSL is extremely noticeable. Increase your on-line working productivity by at least 60%.

Cheapest Internet and Phone Service

Do you still have landline phone service? Still stuck on dial-up Internet service because you think it's cheaper than broadband? What if I said you can essentially get unlimited local plus long distance phone service and broadband Internet for the same price or less than what you're paying for those so called cheaper services?

A Review of Cable High Speed Internet Service

The computer certainly has seen its fair share of changes. Well, I guess I should actually say the PC and Mac. Regardless of what you prefer in computer finery, you are no doubt finding value now. Since the mid-nineties, many of us have gotten used to the idea of having a computer in our homes.

Legislation Mandating Network Neutrality...The Right Thing?

The US Congress is considering legislation that will either require network neutrality of US carriers, or allow them to prioritize traffic over their own networks specific to their own services. What is ADSL?

ADSL is a relatively new technology that stands for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. ADSL is more commonly known as just DSL. It can provide a very fast transmission of video and voice to homes over ordinary copper telephone wires. It requires a special DSL modem to function.

Dial Up Internet Accelerators

It is widely accepted that dial up is not one of the fastest options available to access the Internet. It takes a lot of time to establish a connection. In a dial up connection, the user, known as the client, sends data to the remote server. This is done through a modem. It is like asking permission to access the Internet and is known as a handshake. It takes a lot a time to send the data back and forth to establish the connection, which is essential to verify the user account information.

Dial Up Access Troubleshooting

Dial-up access is an Internet access through which the client uses a modem linked to a computer and a telephone line. This is used to dial onto an Internet service provider node, to set up a modem-to-modem link, which is then routed to the Internet. Dial-up requires no supplementary infrastructure except for a telephone network. As telephone points are available everywhere, dial up access is very useful throughout the world. A number of problems and issues that require troubleshooting arise, while using a dial up access.

Unlimited Dial Up Access

A dial-up service is an economical but slow form of Internet access. A modem is necessary to dial an access number provided by the Internet Service Provider. In this type of connection, it is necessary for both sides to have a modem. The user computer is termed as the client and the service provider is referred to as the remote server. Dial-up access is a temporary connection, because either the client or the remote server is in a position to terminate the connection. Internet service providers, often set a limit on connection durations, to prevent unaccounted or unauthorized access. Modern dial-up modems normally have a maximum hypothetical speed of 56 k bit/s, using the V.92 protocol. In maximum cases, the speed may only be up to 53 k bit/s, due to operating cost and Federal Communications Commissions, FCC, laws. These speeds are at present considered to be the maximum possible. In many cases, transfer speeds tend to be lower, averaging between 33-43 k bit/s. The phone line noise and situation and the quality of the modem itself, play an important role in influencing connection speeds.

How Does A T1 PRI Really Work

Just What Is A Bonded T1 And What Does It Give You

When designing your LAN or WAN the logical solution in relation to your expected usage may often indicate multiple T1 lines. In this case bonded T1 could be the best choice. However, before you jump you need to know just what a bonded T1 really is and what it can - and can't - do for you.
