Packaging: The Hidden Power Player In A Global Society
Recent international events got me thinking about the role of packaging around the globe. As a result of the recent terrorist plot in the UK, I became more aware of how packaging really impacts our global society in many unique and hidden ways. Putting the nay-sayers aside, (The I Hate Packaging Club is not yet dead. In fact I'm adding a space for this very topic on my new website) packaging really is a major player in a global economy. Yet its role is either unknown or misunderstood by the vast majority of people.

Police Equipment
United States has a compound level of policing and law enforcement services. These refer to the federal police, state police and county police. Along with this, there also includes special-purpose district and local police. There are approximately 18,000 independent police agencies in the US. Law enforcement varies on different degrees at different levels of government agencies. It is also commonly entrusted with the responsibilities of discouraging criminal activity and preventing the occurrences of crimes. Other functions provided by them include the service and enforcement of warrants, writs and other orders of the courts, providing first response to emergencies and other threats to public safety. They are also required to protect certain public facilities and infrastructure, maintain public order, protect public officials, and work on some correctional facilities. This is usually at the local level.

Missing Persons List
We often see photographs of missing people posted on bulletin boards, websites and postcards. The compilation of the list can be done by the police or websites, with the help of the relatives of the missing person. Legally, a person has to be missing for three days (or 72 hours) before labeled as missing. However, this is misleading. In circumstances where there has been some evidence of violence or the reason for absence is unusual, then a prompt investigation is called for.

People are Saying...But, I Believe That
Hearing v/s believing…thinking v/s trusting, this is one topic that flashed into my mind when I went for my morning walk. Do you remember last time when your boss scolded you, how he started his attack? Or when your spouse started fight with you…what were the first few words? Or when your parents scold you the last time…how they started? Let me jog your memories and say that most of the time…it starts with following or any of the following phrases:
1) I heard that…
2) I think that…
3) People are saying that…
4) XYZ was saying that… etc etc etc

Hurricane Ernesto to Re-route Cruise Ships in Jamaica and Cayman Islands
Tropical Storm Ernesto will soon be a Hurricane say Caribbean Meteorologists and those at the National Weather Service. Tropical Storm Ernesto is set to arrive there by Tuesday or Wednesday and make a real mess of things, but by then it is bound to be as full-fledged Hurricane. Local fishermen in Kingston, Jamaica are worried and say this may be the one we have been fearing during this 2006 Atlantic Tropical Hurricane Season.
